About Breakup Jewelry

A transformation of jewelry from a past relationship can be a cathartic experience. Preserve your jewelry's most valuable elements and create something new that you'll love to wear.

We've renovated many engagement rings from marriages that have ended, and love designing new settings for them that don't read "bridal". We're also fond of transforming wedding bands, tennis bracelets, diamond studs, and other pieces that are frequently gifted for anniversaries.

Breakup Jewelry FAQs

What can I do with my engagement ring after a divorce?

You have so many options for how to re-invent your engagement ring after the end of a relationship! We can unset your center stone and design a new piece that feels entirely different, like a signet ring, or a cuban link pendant. We frequently make medallion necklaces, delicate stacking bands, or dangly earrings from any petite side stones.

Can I use my own gold to create new jewelry?

Yes! It depends a bit on the design you select, but we can typically melt and alloy your gold to use in your project. We reserve this very specialized offering for projects where the gold itself is extremely sentimental.

Alternatively, our typical process is to group recycle your gold with gold from our other clients and offer you a credit towards your invoice.

How do I get started?

We typically begin with a phone consultation to talk about your jewelry and your style. We'll review photos of your jewelry and brainstorm about what new pieces we could create from your materials for you to enjoy everyday. There is no cost for the consultation. After your consultation, we'll send you a proposal with complete designs, descriptions, and pricing for what we would recommend!

What is gold credit?

We are always happy to re-use and recycle your precious metals as much as possible during your renovation project. If you have an excess of precious metals (gold or platinum) we can recycle those and apply a credit towards your project. Most of our clients recycle gold with us to reduce their total project cost. This credit gets applied to your final invoice.

What can I do with my wedding bands after a divorce?

We can melt the gold from your wedding bands to create a new piece of jewelry, hammer them into hoop earrings, or apply them as credit towards your other jewelry projects.

Is it bad luck to create jewelry from a wedding set?

We think re-purposing these precious materials into a new wearable piece you can enjoy is a much happier outcome than letting them collect dust in the back of a drawer.
