Step 1. Spend a little bit of time with your jewelry.
Take out the jewelry items you would like to work with and spend some time looking at your gem stones and other materials. Which are your favorite stones? Which items hold the most sentimental value? Do you see any material or color combinations that excite you? Take note of any markings or gold karat stamps.

Step 2. Think about your taste and style.
On your call you will asked a series of questions about your jewelry taste. Before your appointment you should take a look at your daily pieces and think about what would be an excellent addition to your wardrobe. Do you need more rings? Layering necklaces? Sparkly party earrings? It’s helpful to go into the call with a sense of what category/categories of jewelry you are hoping to make.
Consultation FAQs
What does it cost to renovate jewelry?
We price each custom project individually and present complete pricing with our proposals. Costs vary depending on the type of piece, labor, complexity, and materials involved in your project.
Many of our projects are in the $1500-$6000 range. We have beautiful design concepts under $1500 if you are open to suggestions. We can apply the value of any extra gold or platinum from your original materials towards the cost of your project.
Can I schedule an in-person consultation at your NYC studio?
We like to start with a preliminary consultation phone call to understand what you're looking for and make sure we're the right fit for the project. We've found our phone appointments to be a very focused and effective format.
Once we have a bit of clarity and direction, you're welcome to visit in-person at our Flatiron NYC studio for any followup questions, and to drop off your materials with us. We're always happy to arrange that!
What does “custom” really mean?
We specialize in creating custom jewelry from unique, heirloom, inherited, and sentimental materials. Every piece is designed around your specific materials.
Working this way allows us to creatively approach each project to produce a higher quality of jewelry. It also allows us to fit each piece perfectly to your body.
While we offer designs at a variety of price points, please note that custom jewelry is typically more costly than jewelry that is created in mass production.
What are the best materials to work with?
Fine jewelry materials such as diamonds, 14kt and 18kt gold, as well as sentimental coins and other gemstones are some of our favorite materials to work with.
What is gold credit?
We are always happy to re-use and recycle your precious metals as much as possible during your renovation project. If you have an excess of precious metals (gold or platinum) we can recycle those and apply a credit towards your project. Most of our clients recycle gold with us to reduce their total project cost. This credit gets applied to your final invoice.
Can I use my own gold to create new jewelry?
Yes! It depends a bit on the design you select, but we can typically melt and alloy your gold to use in your project. We reserve this very specialized offering for projects where the gold itself is extremely sentimental.
Alternatively, our typical process is to group recycle your gold with gold from our other clients and offer you a credit towards your invoice.
