Loupe Band

$1,780

The wide band we've been waiting for. A 7mm wide band in polished gold. The inside of the band is carefully carved for slipper-like comfort. It's delicious to wear and can be created with your sentimental heirloom gold.

The ring will require approximately 4-6 grams of sentimental gold to create depending on your ring size. Alternatively, we can provide gold to complete the piece (pricing adjusted accordingly).  The ring will will match the alloy you provide (14k, 18k or 22k are suggested) unless otherwise discussed.

Please allow 4-8 weeks for us to create the ring from the time we receive your gold.

Once you complete your order you will receive shipping instructions to send your gold in. Let us know if you'd like to see options for engraving.

Heirloom Gold FAQs

What kinds of gold can be melted for jewelry?

Plain gold bands, ingots, and pure gold coins are ideal for melting because they tend to contain few impurities. Most fine jewelry in 14k, 18k, 22k, or 24k can be worked with, though we may need to remove small sections of solder in some cases. Chain is not ideal because typically there are too many solder points. When you place your order, we can review the gold you'd like to use and help you to assess which items are best.

Can you make this piece without heirloom gold?

Yes! We can provide gold for this piece. Please let us know when you place your order and we can adjust your pricing accordingly.

Are customizations possible?

Yes, we can add diamond settings, gemstones, engravings, and other customizations to most of our designs.

Stacking the Loupe Band

The loupe band looks beautiful stacked as a wedding band or on any finger. At 7mm it is fairly wide, so it stacks best with a mix of delicate bands. The profile is low to the hand and fits under many solitaire settings.

Our Process

Melting sentimental gold into new pieces is a very specialized process and we're so honored to offer this service at our NYC studio. First, your gold will be tested for purity and weighed to make sure we have the materials needed to create your piece. Then it will be melted into an ingot in our studio. If additional gold is needed, we add gold casting grain of the correct alloy at this stage. The ingot is then melted and poured into the flask when your ring is cast. The alloy of the gold provided may slightly impact the final color of your piece. Each ring is completed using time honored finishing techniques in our studio including hand polishing.
