A Jade Cabochon Hinged Bangle for Karen
Karen wanted to find a way to honor a broken piece of jade jewelry that had been given to her by her mother, as well as a treasured gold bracelet from her grandmother that broke (and left her broken hearted!).
If you've been following along with us for some time, you know we love working with heirloom jade, and this was such a beautiful opportunity to explore a new way to work with a broken jade segment.
Karen was looking for a piece with presence and substance. A hand fabricated hinged bangle provided a bold silhouette for a new heirloom bracelet as well as a blank canvas for the glowy jade to take center stage.
We recut the jade into a small collection of round, high domed cabochons and bezel set them across the top of the bangle. Cutting smaller shallower gemstones from the larger piece created a less saturated green hue as the depth of stones generally increases their color.
❤️ thank you Karen!!! We will never stop thinking about this bracelet.
