Two Heirloom Rings for Cleo
Cleo came to us with her jewelry from both her mother-in-law and her mother wanting to create rings that would remind her of both women daily.
Her mother-in-law's emerald and diamond ring and a set of 24K gold bangles, were both given to her on her wedding day. The bangles carried cultural and personal significance, they are a gift of gold following Chinese tradition and they had been passed down from her mother-in-law's own wedding. "Knowing she has few pieces of her own made this gift an incredible gesture of love and welcome into the family," Cleo told us. We melted the gold from the bangles and alloyed it to a more durable 18kt for the new setting, then reset the emerald and diamonds into a playful asymmetrical design. Emeralds, diamonds and rich 18kt yellow gold are a stunning combination.
For the second ring, we started with a diamond necklace Cleo's mother gave her for her 18th birthday. She always loved what it meant, but it was rarely worn. We set the diamond in a wavy band ring with the smaller diamonds nestled in each curve. All of the settings are smooth bezels set as low to her hand as possible so this piece could finally have a permanent place in daily life as a reminder of her mom (rather than something saved for special occasions).
Thank you so much, Cleo! 💗
