Michelle's lily of the valley ring
Michelle inherited a few pieces from her mother after she passed away including her parents' wedding bands and she wanted to have a special piece of jewelry to represent and honor her mom. Although Michelle loves to look at antique memento mori jewelry, she felt that those pieces were too delicate for daily wear in her active life, especially as a parent to a toddler.
We ran with the antique inspiration and the prompt for a piece that was understated and wearable while still having some sparkle and presence.
Ultimately we landed on a a plaque ring with gently curved shoulders, hand engraved with a lily of the valley motif, and set with Michelle's heirloom diamonds. Lily of the valley speaks to a return to happiness (and to early Spring blooms!) it was a popular mourning motif in the Victorian era.
The ring was made with Michelle's sentimental gold from her parents' wedding bands.
Thank you so much Michelle, we loved working on this piece, and it has furthered our obsession with the language of flowers. 🌷
