Our process

First we'll take a look at pictures of your jewelry and chat with you about your style.
Then we'll send over our proposal with hand-drawn sketches and pricing for each project.
When you're ready to get started, we'll send you an insured FedEx label and safe shipping instructions to send us your jewels.
Each piece is custom and handcrafted in-house by our talented team. It takes us about 3 months to create your new jewelry and send it back to you.

Star set diamond ring for Celina.

Celina loved her diamond ring when she received it, but it was from a different phase of her life. We scattered her diamonds around a wide gold band in hand-engraved star settings.

Kristen wanted to use different pieces she had inherited from beloved relatives. We brought them together in one bracelet she can wear every day.

FAQs

What is the cost?

Every project is custom and handmade, so costs vary widely. Many of our projects are in the $1000-$3500 range. We're happy to apply your gold towards your project to help reduce costs. Please let us know if you have a specific budget in mind.

How does the process work?

After we get to know you and review the items you'd like to renovate, we'll send you a proposal with sketches and pricing for each of our design suggestions. Projects take 8-12 weeks for us to complete for you.

What can be renovated?

Our most common projects are renovating pearls, engagement rings, wedding bands, cufflinks, brooches, necklaces, beads, and coins. Book a consultation to find out more about your specific materials.

Is it worth it?

If it's worth it to you, it's worth it to us! We've worked with everything from plastic beads to 5ct diamonds. Some of our favorite projects have been elevating non-precious yet sentimental materials to fine jewelry that can be enjoyed daily.

Where is the jewelry made?

All of our pieces are handmade in NY by our resident jewelers. We have amazing talent on our team, including our co-founder, Simone, who is a RISD-trained jeweler.

Co-founders Simone Paasche & Sophie Fader

We created SPUR for the love of jewelry, family, and meaningful connections between generations.
Simone (Si-Mun) is a designer and artist. She holds a degree in jewelry and metal smithing from RISD and launched her collection of fine jewelry in 2015. As she became an established NYC jeweler she found herself fielding many requests to work with sentimental heirlooms.
Sophie is a web developer and the third generation in her family to go into the jewelry business. She has a BA in Information Science from Columbia University, and in 2014 co-founded the ethical engagement ring company S.Kind.& Co. At S.Kind, Sophie too found that she was being asked to work with her client’s inherited stones and realized there was real need to create a home base for all things custom and important.
