Heirloom Pearl Refresh

$640

We will restring your pearls on your choice of hue of 100% natural silk and add a beautiful solid gold Italian tortoise clasp and a handmade gold loop.

This style works beautifully with any strand of pearls.

TIMING

Please allow for 4-6 weeks from receipt of your pearls to create your new necklace.

SHIPPING

Upon receiving and approving your order, we will send you specific instructions for how to safely pack up and send your pearls in to us. We will include a prepaid and insured label for FedEx.

Silk Colors

Your pearls will be strung on your choice of 100% natural silk. Neutral silk is the classic color that matches your pearls most closely and visually disappears into the strand. Select one of our favorite saturated silks for a bright pop of color adding unexpected rhythm and texture. Custom silk colors are available upon request.

Length

This necklace will be the natural length of your heirloom pearls + the tortoise clasp. If you would prefer to shorten them, let us know! We're always especially happy to remove two pearls to create cute pearl hoops.

Process

We will gently clean up your pearls and restring them using traditional silk knotting to create your fresh strand. If you'd like our silk color recommendation, please just let us know! Happy to give our two cents.

Pearl FAQs

What can I do with an inherited pearl necklace I don’t wear?

If you never wear your heirloom pearls but they are sentimental, we love restringing them with a bright silk, working them into a charm holder so you can mix and match them with collected charms, or creating a modern pearl collage with our Assemblage style to create texture and visual interest. Another option is pearl hoops! Super fun and simple.

Can pearls from a broken necklace be reused in new jewelry?

Yes, we can carefully remove the broken necklace, clean and restring your pearls into a new design.

How do I know if my inherited pearls are real?

We're happy to have a gemologist on our team evaluate your pearls, or to bring them to our independent appraiser for you. A simple test at home that catches many simulated pearl (but is a little weird!) is to rub a pearl across your tooth. If it feels very smooth, it is likely not a cultured or freshwater pearl. If you feel grit, that is a good sign!

What is the difference between restringing pearls and redesigning them?

Restringing pearls can be one element of a redesign project. However, there are many other options to give pearls a new look including replacing the clasp, mixing them in with chain, adding diamonds or colored gemstones, or considering sparse modern designs that use just a few pearls with fluid silhouettes.
