Pearl Chelsea Necklace

$2,650

Transform your sentimental pearls into a beautiful and functional charm holder. Add your collected charms and wear it countless ways. The perfect necklace to bring a few different thoughts together.

We will carefully restring your pearls knotting them with silk and incorporating two push-in charm loops connected by an elongated link.  It is finished with our signature handmade pearl caps, all in 14k gold.

This style works beautifully with any strand of pearls.

Please note that the charm loop is the only closure of the necklace. If you would prefer a traditional clasp, let us know.

TIMING

Please allow for 4-6 weeks from receipt of your pearls to create your new necklace.

SHIPPING

Upon receiving and approving your order, we will send you specific instructions for how to safely pack up and send your pearls in to us. We will include a prepaid and insured label for FedEx.

Silk Colors

Your pearls will be strung on your choice of silk. Neutral silk is the classic color that matches your pearls most closely. Or select one of our favorite saturated silks for a bright pop of color. Custom silk colors are available upon request.

Length

This necklace will be the length of your existing pearls + the charm loops (~1.5"). We're happy to adjust the length for you by removing a few pearls if you wish. (PS. Removing two pearls is the perfect opportunity to make our pearl hoops!)

Process

Our goal in this design is to create a canvas that opens the possibilities of creating unique combinations of pearls, charms and pendants from your collection. We're happy to suggest silk colors and charm styling!

Pearl FAQs

What can I do with an inherited pearl necklace I don’t wear?

If you never wear your heirloom pearls but they are sentimental, we love restringing them with a bright silk, working them into a charm holder so you can mix and match them with collected charms, or creating a modern pearl collage with our Assemblage style to create texture and visual interest. Another option is pearl hoops! Super fun and simple.

Can pearls from a broken necklace be reused in new jewelry?

Yes, we can carefully remove the broken necklace, clean and restring your pearls into a new design.

How do I know if my inherited pearls are real?

We're happy to have a gemologist on our team evaluate your pearls, or to bring them to our independent appraiser for you. A simple test at home that catches many simulated pearl (but is a little weird!) is to rub a pearl across your tooth. If it feels very smooth, it is likely not a cultured or freshwater pearl. If you feel grit, that is a good sign!

What is the difference between restringing pearls and redesigning them?

Restringing pearls can be one element of a redesign project. However, there are many other options to give pearls a new look including replacing the clasp, mixing them in with chain, adding diamonds or colored gemstones, or considering sparse modern designs that use just a few pearls with fluid silhouettes.
