A Roman silver coin dating to ~81BC. It pictures the personification of piety on the face of the coin along side a tiny stork, and an elephant on the reverse.
The elephant is a symbol of wisdom, strength and protection. The stork, in addition to being the carrier of souls, is also a symbol of devotion.
This coin is 18mm and about the size of a dime. It would look equally beautiful with the heads or tails side facing up.
